It's almost fall. At least it feels that way here in Alaska. I know it's still August, but looking outside my window the leaves are changing and the weather is a bit cooler.......
I love this time of year.
I'm feeling reflective today. Do you think it strange that the Lord knows exactly what you need? It always blows me away when he blesses me with something that I need but didn't think to ask for. I remember when I got my first apartment. I wasn't going to have a paycheck for a couple of weeks and all my money had gone toward the rent. I had no food and no money for food. I'll never forget how a friend from the past randomly asked me out to lunch when I didn't know how I was going to eat after church. After lunch she said they were moving and had all this food that was going to be thrown out and if I needed anything for my new place that I could have it. I went home with a big shopping bag full of food that lasted me until I had my first pay check.
The Lord knows. He knows what we need, when we need it, and how to give it to us. One of my favorite songs is by The Kry "Take my hand and walk". I can look back on my life, when I didn't want change to happen, and the Lord used that song to encourage me to keep walking. There's a part of the song that says, "And don't you ask why were the old days better just because you're scared of the unknown. Because you don't know whats coming, but you know the One who holds tomorrow and I will be your guide, take you through the night, just keep your trust in me."
What I love about walking with the Lord is that He is the one who does the work in us. Yes, he asks us to follow Him, but in Psalms He says He will set us in his footsteps. He promises to go before us, be beside us, and be our rearguard. Kind of like a machine....all we have to do is make the decision to walk with him and suddenly all these things are set into motion.
